A family is comprised of individuals, living their own lives, but always bound together by the ties of being part of a family.

This is intended to be an outside sculpture and the fabric has been treated accordingly.

I have now removed the fabric as there is another experiment I want to try!

This is about the loss of the ' individual" when genocide occurs  - the name of the group of people remain, but the individual names and records of those who lived have gone. The tree remembers though - for the tree saw the people when they were alive. There are hundreds of different fabrics on the tree - all different - each represents an individual no one remembers.

Thanks to Elayne Quinn, Tamara Benoit, Melissa Quilter and Laurie-Ann Stuart for contributing fabric!

Pressure Sore- Stage IV (2016). Acrylic, wood, mixed textiles.
